Lubasha Visnjic: Bix Oct 6, 2005 @ 10:27 PM Is Jessica Hecht legitimately ill, has she lost too much weight, or has this show's makeup department gotten freakishly good? At any rate, that plot was probably the best patient one they've done in a ridiculously long time. This was much better than the last 2 weeks, but it's pretty clear hw much the Abby and Neela stuff is carrying the show. Was there a POINT to burnt up guy other than Luka's line at the end? Oh, and the staff needs to go to other hospitals when they get sick. Poor Dubenko. ------------------------- shrunken violet Oct 6, 2005 @ 10:39 PM What a great episode. I haven't watched since the season premiere, and what a snoozefest that was -- didn't care about Alex, didn't care about Sam, didn't care about Sam and Luka (though I always care about Luka) -- and the "drama" was completely lost on me. With tonight's episode, I have renewed hope for this show. So many of the elements that made the show great in the past were there: Dr. Weaver actually working on patients Patients one can really care about (the burn victim, the pre-cancer patient, the young boy -- well, I cared, anyway) The oddball patient (he had an amusing name, which I've forgotten -- the guy in the "body"suit) Abby's compassion for and commitment to patients A little Luby flashback Neela and Gallant Neela and Abby Very little of the Rock'n'RollDoc Morris only further proving (as if further proof is necessary) what an ass he is. I've never seen Kirsten Johnson in anything before, though she's always struck me as pretty abrasive as a person, but I LOVE her character. I loved it when she took Luka to task and told him to call her Dr. I also like the new nurse, whom I've not seen before. (MantaRay, I typed this up before I read your post. Not copying you, honest.) SO not missing Carter. I've got last week's episode on tape. Now I have some motivation to watch it. ------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Annihilator Oct 6, 2005 @ 11:01 PM Parminder is MEGA gorgeous. Neela just glowed in the episode. And it was sweet and funny for her to send Gallant a care package. Those photos were a laugh. But showed her beauty alright. Gallant is a very lucky man! Neela's still my fave on the show hands down. Luka was a wreck. But the sooner he gets over Sam the better. Sam has moved on. And Luka needs to as well because its beyond tired. Abby was bearable. I have enjoyed her this season. Abby and Luka's friendship scenes played well. Eve is a total hard arse. But Eve made a lot of sense when it came to nurses rights, working enviroments, literature, protocal. She made some good saves. She is abrasive, witchy, etc. But so far I'm liking her addition to the show. Kristen did well. All around good episode. I agree that nurse Inez adds more eye candy to the show.

Lubasha Visnjic: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chiggers Oct 6, 2005 @ 11:15 PM Not bad. I didn't like Eve coming on like gangbusters or something but it was nice that after duking it out with Luka she actually made an half attempt to apologize for coming on too strong and they basically were on good terms at the end. I thought they would push the breast cancer stuff a bit harder. Also, wasn't Abby supposed to schedule herself for a mammogram. That didn't happen and if that was supposed to happen as I recall, it's a shame they didn't keep that scene. The Abby watching over Luka scenes of various sorts were all nice to watch. As always. Keep it up TPTB. The new nurse, Inez, is really cute. She seems pretty tough in her own right for being so new. Morris. Was I supposed to laugh at anything about him in this episode? I was? Nice to see Weaver more. --------------------- VaNotSoSlim Yesterday @ 12:16 AM I thought Eve was the personified audience, too. I had to laugh, too, at Abby's line as she crumpled up the picture --something like, "The lighting in here is terrible"-- was it also a shout out to all of viewers who have said that exact same thing? Not a bad episode at all. I was never interested in the Luka and Abby relationship from before, but this most recent exploration of their friendship isn't sucking at least. And I may not be missing Carter....but that is only because he was unrecognizable to me the last year or so.. so I had plenty of practice. I did, however, miss Susan.

Lubasha Visnjic: ElectricalStorm Yesterday @ 12:57 AM Wow, Abby Lockhart is a lot of things: recovering alcoholic, doctor, former nurse, amateur pornographer, but never mind that. I really enjoyed MWaN. GV and MT have enough chemistry to make a nuclear bomb and blow up a continent with it. They work so amazingly well together, whether as friends, lovers, co-workers, etc. I'm very happy for the second-coming of Luby. I loved their conversation between them in the final scenes. Very comfortable and easy going, which I love seeing from these two. I recently watched an episode of Sex and the City Kristen Johnston guest starred on and I now have a new-found respect for her acting talents. She did very well with the medical terminology and the authoritarian role she's in. Can't wait to see more of her. No wonder the episode felt so right. Kerry/LI shown for more than a five minutes and Shane West was on for a few seconds. Let's keep it that way TPTB. -------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yvaughn Yesterday @ 01:56 AM I went back and forth about KJ's Eve, but in the end, I decided I liked her. I headed that way when she made nice with Luka, and put things right there. And I was committed to liking her when she changed Sam's shifts so they wouldn't coincide with Luka's. Not because I actively wanted to see Sam suffer (and heaven knows, I don't think she should be made to leave Alex on his own more than she already does). But because it means far less Luka/Sam. I'm definitely on the Luby train, but I'll admit, part of that is my ability to deliberately forget almost everything that happened from the point TPTB decided Abby should be paired with Carter, and started undermining everything Luka had been up to that point (IMHO). I mean, we went through half a season of him finding his faith with the dying archbishop, only to have him lose his faith *again.* We saw a sweet-natured good guy with Carol and then early Abby, only to have him degenerate--and quickly!--into a mean, alcoholic, "you're not that pretty" saying, drunk driving, sexual harrassing jerk. I didn't like that Luka, so I'm happy pretending he didn't exist. Not saying that y'all have to play along with my world. But that's where I'm living....

Lubasha Visnjic: fendley Yesterday @ 10:18 AM I really liked the new Eve character, even though I didn't think I would. Eve is the nurse manager, not the doctor manager. I'm sure she would have loved to change Luka's schedule...she was just powerless to do so. Loved the Abby and Luka scenes, although he was really pissing me off, acting like a big huge baby. Beating on the glass wall in the drug lock-up. Get over it!!! Sam was not that pretty or that special (although her hair looked the best ever). My favorite line of the episode was when Abby saw Luka in the bar, and he said "you must miss drinking." Then she came back with "you'd be a terrible sponsor." It made me laugh out loud. -------------------- Posted: October 07 2005 Post subject: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------э carterfan October 07 2005 Post subject: I was bored with this eppy. There were some part I liked. I wish we did not see Luka/Abby interaction in an eppy where Luka is still upset by his breakup. I don't want another triangle. I so disliked Luka/Abby in the past. Though Abby did show interest in Dubenko which she knows a lot less. Maybe we are just seeing her nurturing side. I was reminded of Carter when Abby talked to the patient in oncology. I thought I heard the same thing, Kyrie. --------------- Pemberley October 07 2005 Post subject: well! I didn't end up seeing last week's eppy, so I have nothing to compare to, but I thought this was pretty good. -Funniest part of the night: (by far!) Abby and Neela taking the pictures for Gallant! Abby should have done some of those for Carter! Maybe he would have stayed! Oh, and Neela in her bed while Ray was next door was pretty darn funny as well. -Morris is such an ass...I laughed so hard when he fell, though! -Did anyone else see the continuance error with Kovac? He had his coat on, then it was off, then it was on again, then it was off. -I was a little disappointed with Abby's story...I just expected it to be bigger. It was good and Abby was wonderful - I just wish there was more. Then again, the whole talk about change was interesting...and the woman definitely struck a nerve with Abby. The talk with Luka at the end was really interesting...like there are things she wants to do, but is running out of time...And the way she looked at Luka at the end, sheesh -Luka, Luka, Luka...poor guy. He's all confused and Sam's not really helping. I mean, talking about taking Alex to a soccer game was not helping the situation. -Eve. Wow. That argument with Luka was quite something. I mean, in the middle of a trauma she was ripping into him like there was no tommorow. And just as I thought I would sort of like her, she goes and screws with Sam's schedule! I think there were just too many major stories, or stories that had the potential of being major. The burn vic...the kid on the scooter...the woman with breast cancer...they could have had more attention, but it was generally good. eta: Dubenko! I was amazed at how he acted in the trauma, but the ending was just...wow. Poor guy. I feel horrible now.

Starley: Любаш, спасибо! Ты сколько всего находишь, что я не успеваю читать. Приходится копировать.

Lubasha Visnjic: Christie October 07 2005 Post subject: I think I like Eve. She doesn't seem to put up with any crap, and she knows her stuff. ------------------------- shygirly October 07 2005 Post subject: I really did like this episode. It was packed with a lot though, probably a little too much cuz I kind of got lost at some parts. But of course I have to mention how much I loved Abby in this ep. (and oh! - how much I loved her hair at the end!) I like the set up for the breast cancer woman and I hope we can delve more into that story line and come out with a satisfying outcome WRT Abbys personal growth. Loved the part where she sees Dubenko in the oncology ward. Her face was so sad for him. Loved the conversation with Neela as they are crossing the street from the Jumbo mart. Loved Kristin Johnston! She's totally kick ass! (I love that Eve's picking on Sam, cuz I kinda don't like her ) I liked the Luka and Abby scenes because I think they were so meaningful for both the characters. They didn't say all that much to each other but the dialog meant a lot, Luka had so much raw emotion and Abby had so much heart and maturity. Although Luby is definitely not my first choice (or second, or third) I think that it will be interesting to see what these too characters bring out in each other. ------------------------ coffeeandpie October 07 2005 Post subject: I have two very similar words about last night's episode. First I was engrossed in the storylines for almost everyone. Luka and Sam were interesting this time as opposed to the premiere. Neela and her confusion over what to send Gallant. Morris getting reamed by new Nurse manager! New nurse manager taking on a slightly Romano-esque antagonist role! AWESOME! (cept I would love to have my Romano back too) Weaver was back! Hell yeah! I was so happy to see her! The smidgen about Susan... hmmm The super short scene with Pratt, his new girlfriend and the mention of his father... it was so short but really kept my attention. Like it was moving in slow motion. It's weird but that Clint Eastwood movie really set the tone for the whole episode for me as often times if I am watching an old western it really causes one to focus on the dialog because it is often sparse anyway but there' just this tone that was just right for the ER episode where everyone's dialogue was really powerful. That slow moving scene where Abby discovers Dubenko getting examined by an oncologist was wonderfully done. I am very intrigued and can't wait to see next week's ep. The patient storylines this episode were also very interesting and I was wondering what would happen next, the one patient I could have done without was the weird burn victim one. I thought the makeup was done horribly ( as in it looked very very fake) and the ambulance bay shot was unnecessary as it just didn't look right. I found Maura's performance of Abby's storyline this episode to be most compelling Is she great or what? I could not take my eyes off her for any second that she was on screen this episode. She played her role with such subtle smoldering intensity. I loved it when she crumpled up the picture of herself that was classic. Then taking the pictures of Neela. Sooo funny. We knew she was a freak when she opened that bag in Secrets and Lies!!! But by far the best parts of the episode were in her interactions with the potential cancer patient ( the woman) Dubenko and Luka. I thought I wouldn't be able to handle the Luka/Abby scenes but if they make him a substitute for Susan I am all for it. I too thought he said, " You must miss HIM" and I gasped! Can so many of us be yearning for something so badly that we can make an actor change his lines by the force of our collective will? HA! Let's try it again next week!

Lubasha Visnjic: speddoc 10/06/2005 11:17pm OH MY GAWD! Incredible, incredible, especially the ending. I'm going to have to run it again, more than once just to figure it all out. LUKA SMOKING???? Since when? And the brawl was unexpected, despite the preview. We'll be fighting that one out for the next few days. Man, alive have they brought my Luka back to life. Now folks are going to argue with me on this one, but there was stuff in that episode, particularly the end scenes that they could never have done with Mark or Carter. The lack of Luka character development in the last few seasons just became an advantage. MAN did he get interesting in a hurry! Now, before I say the next thing, gentle reader, I want you to sit down. Seriously. Do it. Comfy? Ready? I think I might see some changes in Abby that make her almost (oh, I can't believe I'm gonna say this) likeable. Now before you start popping the champagne, remember it was just a couple scenes. But they seem to be getting back to the Abby of the very early days, before Carter stuck in his oar and Maggie complicated things, who we could like. Time will tell. Eve on the other hand, is doing to be h--l on wheels. But did we notice? DR. EVE? Sisterhood! (And yes, you can get a Ph.D. in nursing,) Kerry; glad ta see ya! I liked her stuff, particularly the scene where she sutured Luka's forehead. It looked like they just took the stuff written for Susan and gave it a minor tweak to suit Kerry. The stuff with Neela was fun, and juuuust this side of tacky. I think they might have waited until Neela got home rather than take the pictures in the family room, however. And Morris actually made me laugh. But Luka was the man. The laid his issues out for the world to see, both professionally (he's got to stop biting his tongue and start fighting back) and personally (move on and stop being so self-indulgently needy.) We are lookin' at a new ER, m'friends. Not the old ER, nor the mid-year doldrums ER, but a third generation one, with a lot more energy, better pace, and a crisper style. And my Goran's gonna carry it just fine in his blue shirt, thankyouverymuch. -------------------- ClumsyGuy 10/07/2005 12:57am I really liked this episode. I thought the whole Neela thing was funny, Pratt trying to get a pizza to Baghdad, Frank sending p******aphy (not sure if I'm allowed to say that) and the lollipops and pictures. Eve really REALLY got on my nerves, which probably is a testament to Kristen Johnston's acting skills. But come on, re-jiggering the schedule? There's no need for that! WEAVER! I'm actually surprised at just HOW MUCH I miss her! I guess its because the fact that she's listed in the credits and she never appears bugs me.

Lubasha Visnjic: cwbybri | 10/07/2005 6:25am AbbY: I think that that she's showing signs of turning into a leader. Give her a couple of years, and Luka and Abby will make a great team in leading the gang. She had a great episode. She had a great episode on how she handled her patient and her friends. Neela: Doc, I agree with you that professionally, they should have waited and did the pictures at Abby's apartment. But that would not have been able to set up Morris falling down. Besides, is it any worse than any of the physical exams that some the doctors have given over the years? Eve: Ok, I like her. She did a great job making Morris look bad. (That that it's hard to do.) It may be her that takes him down, not Clemente. Her first interaction with Morris, and I fell in love with her. She was right on with Luka leaving that kid, and was right to challenge him on it. She did kind apologize for the way she did it, and I thought that Luka repected her for it. As far as rejiggering Sam's schedule, if the rejiggered everybody's schedule that slept with Luka . . . Luka: The temper that we thought we were going to see wasn't as bad as the teaser made it out to be. Ok, he hit the side of the drug lock up cage. Kind of mild, actually. The boy's father in the trauma room did attack the mother, and Luka did the right thing. If it got out of control, it was partly on the father's part. Luka did back down when security showed up. I'd say that Luka did the right thing. He was definately depressed though. (Donna, the Eastwood movie would almost have to be "Man with No Name" because of the title of this week's episode.) His doctor skills were definately off that night. It reminded me of then Dr. Swift came in for the first time and Mark wasn't even there. Sometimes our favorite characters don't put their best foot forward when new people come in. Inez: Had the best line of the night. Morris, what does he do? Abby: He's the Chief Resident. Inez: No, really? That's classic.
